Glavno težavo razlaga v tem, da se ljudje pri sebi kolikokrat zavedamo stvari a težje najdemo aktivno pot po spreminjanju zaradi pritiska okoliščin. Z drugimi besedami povedano, če bi vam nekdo rekel da začnite dihati globoko in za pet minut ne mislite na nič drugega, boste zagotovo v tem času naredili ravno obratno. V drugem primeru, če bi vam nekdo rekel da za pet minut stojte samo na eni nogi, bi z lahkoto za pet minut mislili samo na to. Torej na kratko, če želimo biti srečni se moramo osredotočiti na dejanja, ki nas bodo vsak dan razveselila in ne samo na pozitivno orazmišljanje.
